So, today at Columbus State in the Beginning Drawing class, we had a critique on this charcoal still life that we've been working on for the past two school days. A critique there can consist of many things to go over such as the next chapter in the textbook, things that are liked and disliked about all of the students artwork, things and techinques that certian students need to work on and other forms of constructive critisizim. I really feel that critiques are great when it comes to all subjects, not just art. I also feel that to be good at something you have to accept other points of view and suggestions, not that you have to follow everything that everybody else tells you. Its just that, some constructive critisizim never hurt anybody. Now that the class is working on charcoal, I feel I have more of a grip on things since I have already dealt with a lot of charcoal drawing excersizes in the past. This class today went by rather quicly even though its lasts from 8:30-till 10:50. But one really good thing about this class is that theres no homework assigned after class, except sketchbook assignments, and those really don't even count.
But besides my columbus state class, on mondays I also take a class at Columbus Cultural Arts Center called "drawing the model". The title of the class basically describes what goes on in the class. The class consists of about 10 or 12 other people drawing a person in different gestures and postures for different amounts of time.
